The Celts (A Brief History Of)

The Celts is another short book in the ‘A Brief History Of’ series as published by Robinson. And it makes for a very brief but enjoyable introduction to the subject. It covers off the major areas you would expect such as their origins, Druids, warriors, cosmology, art and craft, farming, myths and more. In fact there’s around 15 chapters split across 221 pages with 30 odd photos (all black and white) – so you can see, brief in this context really is brief.

Anyone who is new to the subject may well find a few pre-conceptions challenged and an interesting new avenue of reading opening up. I have been interested in reading a book about the Celts for some time, and felt that this is one of the best introductions I could have had.

So if you’re interested in reading about the Celts, and would like a short sharp introduction to the topic I doubt you will find much better.

Please note that this review applies to the revised 2003 paperback version totalling 256 pages (including notes).
