Hartraft is a leader of an elite group of soldiers who operate deep behind the invading Tsurani lines. He harbours a deep hatred of these invaders from another planet as they destroyed his family and led to the death of his wife-to-be.

After a disastrous engagement with the Tsurani Hartraft and his Marauders find themselves in a predicament. For they and a Tsurani patrol are in the same place, but both are in danger of being overrun by a large force of the hated moredhel (dark elves). Now Hartraft and Asayaga, the leader of the Tsurani patrol, must choose between honour and life. For to stand any chance of survival they must join forces.

I have never read any of Feist’s work before but I’ve heard a lot of good things about him. And I am glad to say I wasn’t disappointed. The book is well laid out and his style keeps you enthralled. The characters are well thought out and believable, under the circumstances they encounter. If you enjoy fantasy then you will enjoy this. I very much doubt existing fans of Feist’s work will be disappointed either. This is one author I aim to read more!
