The Gladiator

Centurians Macro and Cato are on their way back to Rome after another eventful adventure. However, due to a natural disaster they end up on the small island of Crete without much hope of getting back.

What then unfolds will sound fimilar to fans of Roman history, as a slave revolt throughs the island into chaos, in much the same vane as Spartacus did (but that of course was real).

Much like Spartacus this slave revolt is headed by a gladiator, one who goes by the name of Ajax. Who, somewhat inevitably, is driven by a need for revenge against the all powerful Roman Empire.

As you can probably guess from the story outline, we’re not breaking new grounds in literature here. This is hardly a thought provoking and eradite look at Rome and it’s affects on the people it enslaved. However, it is a good action book with plenty of swording and swashbuckling and more of the same.

Are you going to go gagga for The Gladiator? Absolutely not, but if you’re into Roman history and like a good old fashioned action adventure then you’ll have some fun here…
