Ribeye The Bullbarian and the Jewel of Baloni
- Author: Harry McLaughlin, Illustrated by Mike Milo
- Publisher: Infinity Publishing
- Classification: Illustrated
Ribeye is a Bullbarian warrior living in a time of swords and science, not sorcery. He and his little brother, eight-year-old Cubesteak, leave their home and dearest mother to seek their long lost father.
They don’t have much to go on, but a Bullbarian will never (as a rule) give up, so on they must battle through a world of peril. For Ribeye must survive a most frightening ordeal… civilisation! But Cubesteak appears to be fairly happy with this, and even appears to enjoy sc.. s… schoo… the ‘s’ word, much to Ribeye’s disgust!
But even in this world of science, can sorcery still exist? The ‘steaks are high’ in this crazy adventure!
I think this will make a very enjoyable children’s book. It’s the type of book a parent can read to their child, and even have a smile and a chuckle themselves. Slightly older children should enjoy it as well, and it may introduce some new words into their vocabulary. The illustrations are amusing and bring some life to the story, however, there aren’t enough of them. I would have liked to have seen a lot more!
All in all, this should make a good Christmas present for many a child!
